Our school crest

Our school crest features our motto: ‘Love One Another.’ This phrase inspires our everyday actions in the spirit of Nano Nagle, founder of the Presentation Sisters. Nano Nagle worked with the poorest of the poor and she showed love to the people that needed it most. At St Michael’s we believe in loving those around us through our actions, just as Nano Nagle did.

Our history

For over 60 years, our school has faithfully served the local community of Blacktown, anchored in the charism of the Presentation sisters.

St Michael’s Primary School was established in 1962. Initially under the leadership of the Sisters of Mercy, the school later transferred to the care of the Presentation Sisters from Lismore, NSW.

The Presentation Sisters served St Michael’s Primary School community with courage and dedication until 1997. We continue to honour their legacy with our annual Presentation Day celebration.

In the early days, classes were taught in an ex-Army hut and a weatherboard house which was still partially occupied as a person’s home. The school was located in bushland surrounded by poultry farms and a hatchery.

From these humble beginnings, our school is now a contemporary, diverse and well-resourced school with 700 students. Through our community’s loving spirit and determination, we will continue to grow from strength to strength.
